Discovery: The Market Gap

While institutional traders have rapid, high-context analysis engines, casual retail investors are often left with fragmented, overwhelming tools.

The Current Problem

📉 Information Overload

Brokerage apps or news terminals are severely cluttered with neon tickers and complex jargon.

🧩 Fragmented Experience

Users must bounce between stock holdings and external news sites just to find the 'why' behind price movements.

🌪️ Analytical Friction

Sifting through thousands of data points makes it impossible for casual users to find clear, actionable signals.

The Strategic Opportunity

🧘 Noise-Free Tracking

Democratizing institutional-level insight with a 'calm' dashboard that prioritizes context over noise.

💬 High-Context Storytelling

For part-time investors juggling a 9-5 who seek sizable, high-context insights without technical clutter.

🧠 Reduces Analysis Paralysis

Abstracting technical noise to allow part-time investors to understand their portfolio status in under 5 seconds.

The Target Need

"I want to quickly understand what actionable trades can be executed without analysis paralysis."

The Design Goal

"To eliminate analysis paralysis by transforming raw financial data into digestible knowledge, serving retail investors who need meaningful insight in seconds."

The Solution

Stock Sentinel is a minimalist portfolio analyzer that prioritizes clarity over complexity. Built on Google AI Studio, it combines real-time data with technical analysis to tell the story behind stock movements.

"The Curious Learner"

"I see market is moving up and down, but I don't know what to do with it"
Goal & Behavior:

David has just started his first professional role and is venturing into the tech sector for his investments. He sees the high-level volatility but lacks the technical analysis tools to understand the *why* behind the numbers. He needs a platform that speaks his language—turning institutional data into digestible stories.

Design Guidelines

  • Typography: Clean sans-serif fonts (Inter/Roboto) for maximum legibility of heavy number sets.
  • Color Palette: Primary Deep Navy/Slate (Trust), Semantic Muted Green/Red tones (avoids neon alarms), and Off-white backgrounds.
  • Responsiveness: Seamless on both mobile (for fast checking) and desktop (for deeper insights).

Impact Metrics

  • Reduced Cognitive Load: Users can assess their core portfolio health in <5 seconds.
  • Increased Engagement: Users spend more time reading the AI-driven market summaries, proving their value beyond simple number tickers.
  • User Sentiment Shift: Users move from "anxious checking" to "informed, comfortable tracking".

Future Roadmap

Portfolio Diversity

A visual breakdown logic of sector allocations to guide better investing.

Price Alerts

Custom push notifications specifically for significant portfolio movements.

Dark Mode

Eye-saving modes optimized specifically for low-light evening tracking.

Key Learnings

This project was a masterclass in agile product strategy. I learnt how to solve a high-impact problem with absolutely no manual coding required by leveraging AI-driven frameworks for one-day fast iteration. Through rapid feedback loops and quick refinements, I was able to build and polish a functional portfolio analyzer while staying focused entirely on the user experience and strategic outcome.
